Bernardi Auctioneers is offering a scarce “San Rock Art” tile panel made by Kalahari Studios, as well as an enigmatic “Cracked Head” oil by Alexis Preller, executed in 1946 among the 110 artworks on auction on Monday 28 November.

A typical J H Pierneef landscape, “Bosveld” and a highly unusual seascape titled “Da Gama seil om Kaappunt”, painted in 1949 and gifted to his personal friends Jean and Dirk Lion-Cachet.

The auction will also include select collectables, fine silver, Cape and Transvaal furniture , Persian carpets and Rorke’s Drift rugs, estate jewellery, wrist watches, collector’s pens and desk seals. The residue from the estate of E.L. Jansen, including Sclater’s Book of antelopes (1894-1900) and Description physique et historique des Cafres by Alberti (1811) will also feature in the Africana book section.
