Dunnes Africa Auctioneers is holding its Antiques & Collectables Auction on Saturday at 10am, with viewing today from 9pm-4pm and prior to the start of the event.

The auction will start as usual with jewellery, followed by collectables, paintings and furniture. The venue for the auction is 76 Maria Street, Fontainebleau, Randburg, and the auction rooms are full of goods.

On the jewellery side there is an 18-car- at white-gold ring with a 2.21ct diamond plus 0.60ct of diamonds on the band, and a selection of vintage, 9ct and 18ct gold and silver rings, bracelets and necklaces.

There is also a selection of watches, including Porsche Design.

Among the collectables is a wide variety of items, including a selection of vintage/ man-cave goods, a Royal Albert telephone, a number of Royal Doulton character jugs including Montgomery and Winston Churchill, a Russian four-piece silver tea and coffee set, plus a rare SAR milkchurn, a vintage British military Plessey radio transmi er and mantle clocks.

There will be many books on art and first editions.

Various works of art by both local and international artists include 60 original illustrations by Ernst de Jong for the CVR Tourist Guide Encyclopaedia, Van Schoor, a portrait by Nicholas Egon, a JH Pierneef woodcut and various other interesting pieces of artwork.

There will be a large selection of antique, contemporary and retro furniture, as well as a Georgian mahogany corner washstand with three drawers, an Arts & Crafts hall stand with bench, an Arts & Crafts oak sideboard, a kiaat coffee table, a burr walnut sideboard, a painted oak Welsh dresser, a ball and claw half-moon folding card table, an art deco dressing table, plus many more pieces of furniture, as well as a number of Persian carpets.
