Park Village Auctions will sell two Learjet 55s, ZS-ELI and ZS-ELJ, by public auction at Lanseria airport on Wednesday, October 25 at 2pm.

That’s the word from Roy Lazarus of PVA who says that the sale will appeal to those involved in charter and air medical services alike.

While the aircraft is currently configured 7/2 for passenger charters services, the sale includes various Spectrum stretcher beds, allowing for the aircraft to be reconfigured for medical air rescue if required. The current passenger configuration will give the new owner five-star comfort on all their flights.

ZS-ELI is a 1983 Learjet 55 powered by two Honeywell TFE 731 engines. With a range of 1 600 nautical miles (3000 km) the Learjet series is renowned for its fuel efficiency, speed and strength.

This particular aircraft has a long range capability due to its cruise speed of Mach .78 (440knots; 800km/hr) and does the flight leg from Lanseria to Malta in 12 hours with two stops, or Mauritius, Kinshasa, Entebbe or Nairobi direct with five passengers.

The ZS-ELI is fully certified for charter operations and is fitted with the latest version of the mandated Traffic Collision Avoidance System as well as digital Flight Data and Cockpit Voice Recorder.

The aircraft has both external and internal baggage areas for easy access to personal effects during flight. Heavy baggage need not be carried through the passenger compartment as the internal baggage area can be loaded from the emergency exit.

The second aircraft , ZS-ELJ, will be sold as an airframe only which still contains many useful spare parts to keep operating costs down.

Included in the auction as separate lots, a Honeywell TFE731 engine, an assortment of serviceable and unserviceable avionics, radios and general aircraft spares.

Lazarus predicts that the auction will attract many online bidders as these assets remain popular worldwide.

“The Learjet 55 was the fi rst truly stand up cabin produced by Learjet. It has a separate toilet compartment with basin and running water as well as a compact galley with water heater and oven . “It is an opportunity to acquire an aircraft which has been a favourite since the 1960s at a very aff ordable price ,” Lazarus concludes.

Bidders can participate online via PVA’s online bidding system or attend the auction in person at Hangar 202, Gate No 7, Lanseria Airport. Viewing can be arranged by appointment with Jack on 082 556 6853.
