Dunnes Africa Auctioneers is holding its first Antiques & Collectables auction for 2018 on Saturday January 20 @ 9.30am with viewing on Friday from 8.30-4pm and prior to the start of the auction.
The auction will start as usual with jewelery followed by collectables, paintings and furniture. The auction will be held at 76 Maria Street, Fontainebleau, Randburg, and the auction rooms are full of goods.
On the jewellery side there will be a selection of vintage, 9ct and18ct gold and silver rings, bracelets and necklaces as well as an unset 0.5530ct diamond (VVS2 clarity H colour) plus a selection of watches.
Jewellery is followed by the collectables amongst which will be a wide variety of items including a selection of vintage/man cave goods including Cornishware, a number of Coca Cola memorabilia, Meadle telescope in box and with instructions and accessories, a selection of silver items including a late Victorian silver pepper shaker, a number of Royal Doulton pieces – figurines, character jugs and vases, Orefors glass vase, various wines, rare boxed Edinburgh crystal glasses, a set 12 miniature character jugs and a Royal Doulton display stand, plus a number of books on art and a couple of 1st edition books, as well as many more collectable items of interest.
Various works of art by both local and international artists will be part of the arts section of the auction.
There is a large selection of antique, contemporary and retro furniture including an late Victorian mahogany linen cupboard (from Jan Smuts’ office), stinkwood writing bureau with display cupboards, kiaat wardrobe, art deco wardrobe, Edwardian oak hallstand, Oregon pine sideboard, military trunk, Victorian chaise lounge, Victorian grandfather chair, fall front writing bureau and black forest hunter’s chair mirrors.
There will be 3 gaming machines for restoration plus various pieces of furniture for restoration, including a piano and a long cased clock, and more pieces of furniture.
There will also be a number of Persian carpets.
