An auction of South African art, furniture, collectables, estate jewellery and watches will take place on Saturday, June 30 at 10am in Colbyn, Pretoria.
It starts with a selection of silver objects and hollowware, including perfume and scent bottles, pill and trinket boxes manufactured and retailed by the bespoke London designer and retailer, Ari D Norman.
There are also dressing table appointments, magnifying glasses, jewellery and pin boxes as well as a gentleman’s rosewood walking cane.
Glass, crystal and paperweights are a highlight with a pair of Stourbridge “Dragon” glass vases, Isle of Wight scent bottles, Art Deco flash-cut decanters, tray and shot glasses, Italian Murano glass and Czech crystal pieces, a pair of Doulton Lambeth Stoneware mantle vases and a rare Carltonware “Devil Border” espresso/mocha set.
Furniture and embellishments follow with a scarce Voortrekker yellowwood kinderkis, Victorian shaving and toilet mirrors, German christoleums, French Napoleon III figural two-light candelabra, a Louis XV style armoire a’ bijoux, Vernis-Martin styled display cabinets, HMV gramophones, a pair of Corinthian ‘Verde Antico’ marble pedestal columns, vintage enamel advertising signs, an Austrian regulator wall clock and a Dutch Friesse Staartklok will all compliment a classical or modernist interior.
