A biennial event to raise funds will be held next Thursday to support victims of gender-based violence in South Africa.
Lawyers against Abuse (LvA) will hold its fifth biennial fundraising art auction in conjunction with Russell Kaplan Auctioneers and True North Events at the Killarney Country Club in Houghton.
All proceeds raised will go to supporting LvA’s work providing free legal services and therapy for victims of gender-based violence.
This year, the auction will feature the work of established and emerging. Paintings, photographs, sculptures and ceramics will be featured in a full digital catalogue, which will be published today on www.rkauctioneers.co.za.
The work can be previewed at the country club on the day of the auction, from 1pm-6pm. The auction will start at 6.30pm.
Participating artists include William Kentridge, Zanele Muholi, Kim Berman, Sanusi Olatunji, Kate Gottgens, Conor Mccreedy, Peter Clinton Gray, Kim Lieberman, Gordon Massie, Kobus Walker and several rising stars from the Artist Proof Studio.
The auction will be followed by a gala dinner for 200 people, featuring Justice Edwin Cameron in conversation with Ferial Haffajee.
