Dunnes Africa Auctioneers is holding its antiques and collectables auction tomorrow at 9.30am, with viewing today from 9am – 4pm, and prior to the start of the auction.
The auction will start as usual with jewellery, followed by collectables, paintings and furniture. The auction will be held at 76 Maria Street, Fontainebleau, Randburg.
On the jewellery side there will be a selection of vintage 9ct and 18ct gold and silver rings, bracelets and necklaces, plus a selection of watches including a Tag Heuer, Omega Constellation watch.
Jewellery is followed by the collectables. There will be a wide variety of items including a selection of vintage/man-cave goods, a Empisal Home rug machine, a Kalahari liqueur decanter, and Beswick camels.
Silver pieces include a Danish silver David Anderson teaspoon set, American sterling silver butter knives, Alfred Meakin Riverdale dinner service, Rosenthal Bjorn Wiinblad plates, a Gouda vase, Royal Doulton figurines and character jugs, and a boxed set of Christofle cake forks.
A selection of mantle and wall clocks include a 19th century gilt and marble mantle clock.
A number of books on art include a couple of first edition books, as well as many more items of interest.
Various works of art by both local and international artists include JL Faure, J Mahlangu, Clive Walker, Peter Botha, Z Raczkiewicz, FM Claerhout, Corey Larson, G Cataneo, Dino Paravino, and Godfrey Ndaba.
There is a large selection of antique, contemporary and retro furniture, including an Edwardian mahogany chest of drawers, a stinkwood wall display cabinet (made by Fechter of Knysna), a mid-20th century 30 pigeon hole shelving unit, a colonial rocker, imbuia kist, and small stinkwood hall table with drawer.
There is also a marble pedestal with marble table lamp, a ’70s display/drinks cabinets, imbuia wardrobe, mahogany display cabinet with Queen Anne legs, a carved Thai teak dining room table and 6 chairs, plus various pieces of furniture for restoration.
Mirrors, as well as a number of Persian carpets, will go under the hammer.
