The latest truck auction by Park Village Auctions (PVA) at Nasrec, near Soweto, at month end represents an excellent opportunity for fleet managers to acquire newer vehicles at better-than-market prices.
That’s the word from LeRoy Augustyn of PVA who says the newly introduced carbon tax and the anticipated diesel increases may see fleet managers opting to replace “guzzlers”.
“Expenses are up all around. As a result, new vehicle sales have been hard hit, but this doesn’t mean that transporters have halted on purchasing assets,” says Augustyn.
“Contrary, they are leveraging their optimum replacement cycles for maximum fleet efficiency.”
He said the fact that PVA’s upcoming auction comprises assets stemming from a mixture of genuine bank repossessions and liquidation matters, represents a timeous opportunity for buyers to procure good condition late model trucks and trailers at favourable rates.
The auction takes place at Gate 2 of the Nasrec Showgrounds in the south of Johannesburg at 10.30am on June 27. Viewing will take place on June 26 from 9am until 4pm.
Rigid trucks include MAN, Mitsubishi, Nissan UD40, 80 and 90, Toyota Dyna, Hino and Tata rigid trucks.
Truck tractor brands to go on under the hammer include International, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, MAN TGA, Scania, Iveco, Hino, Renault and Volvo.
There will also be a selection of trailers and earth-moving equipment on the block. These comprise flat deck link trailers, SA Truck Bodies, Henred Fruehauf, Afrit and Motor Trail flat deck, side tippers, Tautliner trailers, skidsteer loaders, excavators and backhoe loaders.
