The first quarter of 2019 has been rampant with load shedding and leaving South Africans in the dark, but Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers’ auction this weekend will definitely be a shining light.
Tomorrow, the auction kicks off at 9am sharp. About 450 lots of furniture (beautiful Africana included), a great selection of silver, exquisite ceramics, vintage toys, carpets, a selection of clocks and collectable books will be on offer.
The art session starts at 2pm. An eclectic selection of traditional and contemporary art by the likes of JH Pierneef, Frans Claerhout, William Kentridge, Allen Hallett, Bill Ainslie, Gregoire Boonzaier, Hennie Niemann Jnr, Hennie Niemann and Christiaan Nice, to name a few, goes under the hammer.
Also included in this session is a very large selection of SA art books.
On Sunday, “Treasure hunt Sunday” kicks off at 9am with a trove of items that will keep auction goers busy for hours with so much to choose from.
The stand-alone jewellery and watch session begins at 1pm with a magnitude of glittering lots. Many beautiful rings set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds, tennis bracelets, necklaces and more. Of special mention is a magnificent platinum ring set with a 1.86ct brilliant cut diamond.
For the watch collectors, Rolex, Breitling, Panerai, Longines, Tag Heuer and Omega timepieces will be on offer.
